Dance Party Exercise

“I don’t want to do that!”

“That’s no fun!”

“Awwww, Mom…not now!”

These are the complaints I’ve been hearing lately when I try to get my family to exercise.

But, then I rephrase the question:

“Do you want to dance with me to your favorite songs?”

“Do you want to play a family game of kickball?”

“Who wants to race me?”

If I make exercise fun, then it’s not work. A simple philosophy that I have to remember to live by…for myself and my kids!

Have a great weekend!

Makeover your workout!

I am so excited about my latest “workout routine” that I just had to share it with you!

I have been looking for something that I could complete within 20 minutes and that only required these:

Recently, a particular workout kept popping up, so I had to give it a try, and I am loving it!

It is called “Jillian Michaels – 30 Day Shred“. I am currently on day 7, and I can already feel the difference.

Here is what I like about this workout:

– it only requires 20 minutes a day

– all you need is hand weights and room to workout

– it is very customizable (there are 3 different levels, and each level has a hard and easy version — plus you can adjust your hand weights as well!)

Although I know this workout may not be the solution for everyone, I think the key is to find something that fits your particular stage of life.  How much time do you have to workout?  Do you need to workout from home or do you have the flexibility to go to a gym? What are your requirements? Once you find something that works with where you are in life, it is so much easier to stick with it!

Question for you: What’s your favorite way to get in shape?

Family Bike Rides!

We have recently started taking family bike rides — they are so much fun and bring back so many great memories from when I was a kid. However, it seems like there is much more to worry about now — helmets for everyone and much more traffic to avoid in our neighborhood!

Despite the challenges, I think that making this a part of our evening routine is so worth it. Last night, my daughter and I set out on our journey (just the two of us) and after a few minutes of casual conversation, she really started talking to me about stuff that was going on at school and how she was feeling about different situations.  It was AWESOME!!! I look forward to it every night now!
